{"id":719,"date":"2014-08-03T00:47:11","date_gmt":"2014-08-02T23:47:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/moononastick.com\/blog\/?p=719"},"modified":"2014-08-03T00:47:11","modified_gmt":"2014-08-02T23:47:11","slug":"london-bridge-station-timelapse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/moononastick.com\/blog\/2014\/08\/london-bridge-station-timelapse\/","title":{"rendered":"London Bridge station timelapse"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s a hypnotic timelapse of London Bridge station during the morning peak (although it probably looks quite different\u00a0at the moment due to the ongoing works).<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/W7Z1reYxcpo\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>To put it in perspective, this isn&#8217;t even London or the UK&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/List_of_busiest_railway_stations_in_Great_Britain\">busiest station<\/a>. Waterloo, Victoria and Liverpool Street all handle more passengers.<\/p>\n<p>Living up North, I used to think of Manchester Piccadilly as a huge and busy station. It comes 15th on that list, and all but three of the stations above it are\u00a0yet more London stations. Even what I now think of as my &#8216;local&#8217; station, Stratford, is significantly busier than Piccadilly. And that&#8217;s just counting National Rail services, not including the Underground and DLR.<\/p>\n<p>My other current favourite statistic: a single London bus route (25) carries 50% more passengers every day than Sheffield&#8217;s <em>entire<\/em> tram system.<\/p>\n<p>This city really does rely\u00a0on public transport to a staggering extent.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s a hypnotic timelapse of London Bridge station during the morning peak (although it probably looks quite different\u00a0at the moment due to the ongoing works).
